Joe is a writer, editor, and performer based in Viroqua, WI. Joe has worked on a wide variety of publications, including Utne Reader, where he served as an associate editor, and City Pages, where he was a staff writer. Joe plays old-time guitar with the Pie City Ramblers and the Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers. He is the founder and host of the Kickapoo Barn Dance, a monthly musical variety show broadcast before a live audience on WDRT. He has long been involved in collaborative artistic intervention and performance, including spectacle and found-object intervention. He is co-founder and former creative director of the Viroqua Harvest Parade, a large-scale human-powered puppet parade that takes place annually on the second Saturday in October.
