Karen oversees editorial content for Public Art Review in print and online.
Karen is a magazine editor and writer who was excited to discover the world of public art, which brings together her passions for art, environment, people and placemaking. The former editor-in-chief of Utne Reader, and managing editor of FenderBender and Colorado Review, Karen’s feature articles, interviews, essays, and short stories have appeared in numerous publications. She has taught writing at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, St. Catherine University, and Northern Arizona University. In addition to holding a BA in art history and English from the University of Minnesota, an MA in creative writing from Northern Arizona University, and an MFA in fiction from Colorado State University, Karen has also completed programs in holistic health education and whole systems design.
