Forecast Public Art is pleased to be partnering with St. Louis County Minnesota to incorporate public art into their planned Government Services Center in the lovely city of Virginia. We’re excited to announce that five different opportunities are now available to artists and designers residing in the Arrowhead Region. The opportunities include:
  • Design for a 3,700 square foot colorful terrazzo floor ($10,000)
  • Design for a series of laser-cut metal panels of varying sizes ($8,000)
  • An outdoor mural honoring the history of the site ($18,000)
  • An outdoor sculptural seating element as part of a new gathering place ($45,000)
  • Acquisition of artworks to display throughout the building ($25,000)
All submissions are due by 1 pm on Tuesday, October 3rd, and must be submitted via email to Rosie Utech at St Louis County:, including work samples, a letter of interest, and a short bio. No proposals are sought at this time.
Here’s the whole schedule:

Oct 3  (1 pm) deadline

Oct 12  Announcement of finalists sent to all applicants

Oct 18  Contract with finalists

Oct 23  (tentative) Info meeting with finalists in Virginia

Nov 21  (tent) Presentation of proposals by finalists

Nov 27  Announcement of successful artists’ proposals

Summer 2018 Projects completed

Please Submit:

  1. A one-page letter of interest describing your experience with collaborative work, art or design fields and your desired approach to this opportunity. Include all relevant contact information. Indicate which project you are applying for.
  2. 5-10 digital images of your original, recent, relevant work (each file should not exceed 2 MB and be numbered and labeled with artist’s last name).
  3. A one-page biography.
  4. A list and brief description of all work samples, in sequence (one page limit).
