Statewide Annual Grant Program
Category 1:
Research and Development – $2,000
Grants for the research and development (R+D) of a public art installation/activity in Minnesota. This includes research, planning, community dialogues, site or budget development, and model building. R+D grants may be used for the development of proposals for other public or nonprofit agencies, however, they may not be used for private commissions. A year-end document detailing the project will be produced. Selected R+D projects may be submitted as Public Project proposals in another year.
Category 2:
Public Project – $7,000
Grants for the creation of a publicly accessible temporary or permanent artwork anywhere in the state of Minnesota. Projects may be in any form or discipline, including performance, dance, storytelling, photography, film, sculpture, painting, etc., as long as there is a visual focus. The project site must be secured by the application deadline (written documentation of site approval is required). Projects may be additionally supported by public or nonprofit agencies, or through in-kind sources, however, private commissions are not eligible. A year-end document detailing the project will be produced.

MN Regional Planning Grants
Planning grants for the research and development (R+D) of a public art installation or activity. These opportunities include—but are not limited to—research, planning, community dialogues, site or budget development, and model building. Grants may be used for the development of proposals for other public or nonprofit agencies, however, they may not be used for private commissions. A year-end document detailing the project will be produced. Selected Planning Grants may be submitted as Public Project proposals to Forecast in another year.
Category 3:
East Central Regional Arts Council Public Art Planning Grant – $2,000
For Region 7E (Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties).
Category 4:
Central MN Arts Board Public Art Planning Grant – $2,000
For Region 7W (Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright counties). Selected projects may be eligible for other program support through CMAB.
Category 5:
SW MN Arts & Humanities Council Public Art Planning Grant – $2,000
For Regions 6E, 6W, and 8 (Big Stone, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lincoln, Lac qui Parle, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Swift, and Yellow Medicine Counties). Selected projects may be eligible for other program support through SMAHC.
