Terrazzo installation process for the floor designed by artist Leah Yellowbird. Here, the colors are poured into the pre-laid metal strip works in Leah's design. Once all the colors are poured and it's cured, they grind and polish it.

Behind the scenes: a peek at public art installation in Virginia, Minnesota’s new Government Center

Forecast was hired in 2017 to help St. Louis County, Minnesota to integrate art into their new Government Center in Virginia, Minnesota. The projects include a Terrazzo floor design, custom metal screening, an outdoor history-themed mural, a seating sculpture, and works of art for the walls of the finished building. Construction is underway, and the building is slated to open in 2020. Forecast’s team continues to do ongoing consulting work with the county as questions arise. All artists are from the Arrowhead region of northeastern Minnesota.

Enjoy this behind-the-scenes sneak peek during installation of some of the new artwork, showing work by artists Leah Yellowbird and Aaron Squadroni.
