RFQs, COMMISSIONS, & CALLS for ART
Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, through its Art in Public Places Program (APP), and Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) request qualifications for artists to be considered to make full proposals for various locations at Miami International Airport as part of its major Capital Improvement Program (CIP). It is envisioned that a pool of 30-40 artists will be shortlisted to compete for specific public art opportunities. The selected artist(s) will develop proposals for unique artworks that will contribute to the identity of these areas and engage employees, visitors and passersby in unexpected and delightful ways. Each shortlisted artist will receive a proposal stipend (plus a travel allowance as needed) to engage in a proposal development phase in collaboration with and the support of the APP, MDAD, and the project’s selected architectural / engineering consulting team who will respond to the artist’s requests for information and provide constructive feedback. Budget: Multiple commissions are envisioned in the range of $100,000 – $500,000+. Location: Miami International Airport. Palm Beach County Call to “Tile” Artists (e.g. Ceramic, Porcelain, Terracotta, Stone, Glass)—Aqua Crest Aquatic Complex. Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places program (PBC AiPP) seeks to commission an Artist or Artist team (Artist) to design, fabricate and install art to support Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department’s goals of promoting healthy, happy living for residents and visitors utilizing the renovated Aqua Crest Aquatic Complex. Commissioned art will be integrated into the Entrance/Ticketing building and be inspired by the mission of Aqua Crest Aquatic Complex to provide a safe and affordable high quality facility that facilitates competitive and recreational water activities for residents and visitors to Palm Beach County. The City of Durham has multiple open creative opportunities, including the City of Durham Cultural and Public Art Program’s invitation to artists and artist teams to submit portfolios as an entry to join the City of Durham Pre-Qualified Artist Registry. This registry will serve as a resource for the program’s selection of artists and artist teams to create City cultural and public art projects. Access to a predetermined network of qualified artists saves artists and staff members valuable time by making the process for responding to the numerous calls issued by the City more efficient. It also strengthens and streamlines the program by maintaining a database of artists in the community with particular skill sets. The artist registry has no deadline.
Cambridge Arts and the City of Cambridge periodically announces open calls for public art projects in Cambridge and maintains an active Public Art Registry. Explore their listings to submit your work to the registry and discover current public art opportunities. Registration is free and easy – upload digital files of past work samples and complete the form for artist info. Once in our registry, you will be considered for future public art commissions administered by the City of Cambridge. The NEFA Public Art Learning Fund provides grants of $500 to $3,000 to support professional development opportunities for New England-based artists to strengthen their public art practices. Applicants must be an artist who resides full-time and makes work in one of the six New England States (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Apply by October 13, 2026.
The Pollock-Krasner Foundation is now accepting applications for grants for visual artists. Grants are intended for a one-year period of time. The Foundation will review expenditures relating to an artist’s professional work and personal expenses and amounts range up to $50,000. The size of the grant is determined by the individual circumstances of the artist. Professional exhibition history will be taken into consideration. Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces. Applications are open year round.
Collective Imagination for Spatial Justice (CISJ) grants support teams of Massachusetts-based creatives and community members, to do the important work of imagining: What does public art that fosters positive social change look, sound, and feel like in your community? A new cohort of Collective Imagination Teams will be selected to participate in a six-month imagination journey. Each team will receive a $6,000 grant. Applications will open again in 2026.
Gottlieb Emergency Grant Program. This emergency grant provides financial assistance to painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need. No close date.
The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $2,500 for visual and performing artists. Applications reviewed monthly, so artists can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve budget errors. Rolling acceptance.
Creative Capital Award seeks proposals from individual artists in all 50 states for new artistic works in the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Film, and Literature. The award opens annually in early spring (2027 applications are now closed).
The Maryland State Arts Council Creativity Grant Program strengthens the vitality and sustainability of artists and small organizations, in order to maintain a strong arts infrastructure in the state. The Creativity Grant also provides opportunities to serve the growing needs of relevant arts projects and collaborations within Maryland communities. Close dates for the Creativity Grant Program are rolling. Funded activities must occur within the grant period. Applications must be submitted at least 90 days before the funded activities occur. Applications will be reviewed monthly, and Creativity Grants will be awarded throughout the fiscal year until allocated funding is depleted.
The Maryland Touring Grant assists eligible nonprofit organizations by subsidizing the presentation of any performer on the Maryland Performing Artist Touring Roster. Rolling acceptance.

RFQs, COMMISSIONS, & CALLS for ART
The City of Minneapolis invites artists and/or artist teams to apply to create new public artworks for the Northside Greenway project. The 4-mile Greenway route is from 44th Ave N to 4th Ave N on Humboldt Ave N and Irving Ave N. The Greenway will: Go through six distinct neighborhoods; Connect to or be near five public schools; Pass through or be near nine parks; Cross several major roads and transportation corridors in North Minneapolis. Artists may apply for one or all six public art opportunities along the Greenway. The total budget for the six public art projects is a maximum of $550,000. The individual project budgets include community engagement, design, fabrication and installation phases. Saint Paul Public Library (SPPL) seeks an artist and/or artist team to create an original, community-centered artwork to be installed permanently in the Rondo Community Library lobby at 461 North Dale Street. The selected artist will collaborate with SPPL to present designs and create permanent artwork that reflects the diversity, culture, and values of Saint Paul residents—especially those historically excluded from public libraries and similar civic/public spaces. We are seeking an artist to: Create visual artwork for an interior lobby space at the Rondo Community Library; Collaborate with SPPL staff and design professionals to ensure site compatibility, safety, and durability; Complement the interior finishes of the space, and utilize the values, personality, and brand guidelines in order to guide art decisions; Deliver artwork that reflects equity, accessibility, cultural identity, and belonging. Eligibility: Individual artists or artist teams, creative collectives are invited to apply; Artists based in or with a demonstrated connection to the Rondo or Frogtown neighborhoods; Artists who live outside of the geographical boundaries of Minnesota are not eligible to apply. Artists who primarily work in 2D mediums are encouraged to apply, including those who identify as Rondo or Frogtown Saint Paul residents, BIPOC, immigrant, disabled, LGBTQIA+, youth artists, or artists with a history of community reflective design in their practice. The Saint Paul Downtown Alliance seeks qualifications from artists, muralists, and creative teams interested in shaping the future of downtown through public art. This RFQ is the first step in building a roster of pre-qualified artists who will be considered for upcoming opportunities to create murals and other forms of fast-deploying public art in Saint Paul’s city center. As downtown continues its recovery and reinvention, the Downtown Alliance is committed to helping it thrive as a vibrant, welcoming, and expressive place. Through this ongoing initiative, we anticipate projects that may emerge on a rolling basis—sometimes quickly—driven by new partnerships, property owner interest, seasonal activations, or evolving urban conditions. Artists selected through this process will be eligible for consideration in a variety of future projects, including short-notice installations that respond to the rapidly changing landscape of our downtown. Potential Public Art Formats: Murals (painted, printed, vinyl, or mixed media); Temporary or semi-permanent installations; Modular or sculptural elements; Interactive or light-based works; Storefront or window activations. The Arts@MSP Programis creating an Artist Roster of emerging, mid-career and established artists who will be prequalified for future public art opportunities at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). This roster will be one method of selecting artists to develop temporary, permanent, free-standing or site-integrated artwork of various complexities, forms, and sizes, indoors and outdoors, at MSP Terminals 1 and 2. This call is open to professional artists residing in the United States. Regional talent is preferred. Project budgets for roster-based selections will vary, depending upon project complexity. Contract awards above $175,000 are subject to approval by the Metropolitan Airports Commission. Applications will be accepted at any time, and reviews are anticipated to be conducted quarterly in January, April, July, and October.

NE SCULPTURE | Gallery Factory houses a vibrant Emerging Artist Fellowship Residency for emerging artists of all media(two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and installation artists welcome). This residency is a good fit for artists early in their careers who are looking to exhibit work in a group show, have an interest in working in the community, and are driven to push their studio practice. This residency is the best fit for artists who are self-motivated, flexible, and enjoy working in a shared studio space. A background in studio arts is strongly encouraged. It is possible to receive college credit for their internship. Emerging artists are reimbursed up to $80 per week for groceries. There are up to 3 artist interns accepted for each session: Summer (May 18–August 15; 12.5 weeks); Fall (August 20–November 22; 13.5 weeks). We are a working Board, committed to supporting a small and joyous arts organization that provides on-ice experiences to Minnesotans in dreary winter months. We are looking for engaged, motivated individuals with a demonstrated commitment to any or all of the following: accessibility, decolonizing art and arts organizations, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. We especially welcome those with an interest in future leadership and/or treasurer roles, fundraising and building financial stability, and the law. The typical time commitment is an average of 10 hours per month. We strongly encourage people of color, Indigenous folks, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and neurodivergent individuals to apply. MSP Airport Foundation has volunteer opportunities open at this time. Arts@MSP volunteers assist with live performances, rotating art exhibits, guided art tours, and arts receptions and events. Metro Regional Arts Council (MRAC) offers a variety of arts project support and learning grants, for all artistic disciplines. Varying submission dates. Generously funded by the McKnight Foundation, Next Step Fund provides up to $6,000 to individual artists to support their career development. Applicants may be at any stage in their career, but must be able to provide work samples of their own original art.
The Awesome Foundation has a grant opportunity for $1,000 grants.The Awesome Foundation is an ever-growing worldwide community devoted to forwarding the interest of awesome in the universe. Created in the long hot summer days of 2009 in Boston, the Foundation distributes $1,000 grants, no strings attached, to projects and their creators. At each fully autonomous chapter, the money is pooled together from the coffers of ten or so self-organizing “micro-trustees” and given up front in cash, check, or gold doubloons. No deadline listed.

Arts Midwest will accept applications next summer for the 2025 Midwest Award for Artists with Disabilities, an award supporting accessibility in the arts and celebrating the work of disabled Midwestern visual artists. The $3,000 award recognizes disabled visual artists, celebrates their efforts, and encourages their future work. Mid-career 2D and 3D visual artists with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Applications will open for the next cycle in November 2026.

City of West Hollywood Arts Division invites muralists to submit their portfolio for consideration to be added to the WeHo Muralist Roster. All muralists who wish to paint a mural in the City must qualify for the Roster. Applications for the WeHo Muralist Roster are reviewed on a bi-annual basis (March and September). Artists included on the Roster demonstrate the skills, experience, and interest to design and paint large scale paintings, murals and/or art on construction fencing. The Roster serves as a resource for anyone seeking an artist for a mural project. The intent of the roster is to provide users with a range of artistic styles from which to select an artist that fits the needs of a particular project. The online application is free and open to US-based artists. All submissions are reviewed by the Arts & Cultural Affairs Commission of West Hollywood. The Oregon Arts Commission in partnership with The Ford Family Foundation, is putting together a registry of Oregon artists. We invite artists from across the state to sign up for the list by filling out a brief survey about themselves and their artistic practice. The City of Wichita- Government Division of Arts and Cultural Services is launching a Public Artist Registry web page to serve as a resource to aid architects and developers in connecting with art consultants and artists when working on City projects. This database of qualified artists is intended to streamline the process of selecting artists and art consultants for cultural and public art projects. Local, regional, state and national artists who have experience working on large scale public projects are encouraged to apply for inclusion. No listed deadline.
The City of Seattle invites artists to submit an application for upcoming public art projects. The Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) maintains a Public Art Artist Roster that selects and places artists for each new project. The Public Art Artist Roster is the primary method we select artists for public art commissions with budgets of up to $500,000. Each new project will include information on the specific project budget and scope of work. The types of public art projects that are commissioned through the roster include: Permanent artwork that is site-responsive and/or site-integrated; Temporary artwork; Design-only artwork; Creative community engagement/planning artist; Digital and new technology artwork. The City of Rancho Cordova, CA is excited to announce a Call for Artists for six (6) artist-in-residence opportunities connected to the Zinfandel Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing (ZinBPOC) Artist-in-Residency Program. The program will support selected artists in developing temporary public artworks around the future site of the Rancho Cordova Art Walk. Projects may include, but are not limited to, performances, installations, or other approved public art activities that engage the community. Selected artists will participate in a structured professional-development program and work with City and community partners to develop and implement their proposed projects. Seattle Office of Arts and Culture now offers a Public Art Boot Camp series. Since December 2022, a series of online workshops have been free and available to anyone interested in learning more about public art. Featuring staff, artists, and experts in the field, the information shared will highlight the steps needed to navigate through the completion of a public art project successfully.

By cultivating resources that enable artists to experiment, connect, and thrive, Assemblage Art Fund is a building block for the creation of long-term support structures for artists in Utah. The Assemblage Art Fund awards 6-12 Salt Lake County-based artists annually, with grants awarded at either $5,000 (Process Grants) or $10,000 (Project Grants) depending on project scale and resource requirements. Applications will reopen in summer 2027 for the next grant cycle.
The Pollock-Krasner Foundation is now accepting applications for grants for visual artists. Grants are intended for a one-year period of time. The Foundation will review expenditures relating to an artist’s professional work and personal expenses and amounts range up to $50,000. The size of the grant is determined by the individual circumstances of the artist. Professional exhibition history will be taken into consideration. Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces. Applications are open year round.
Gottlieb Emergency Grant Program. This emergency grant provides financial assistance to painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need. No close date.
Creative Capital Award seeks proposals from individual artists in all 50 states for new artistic works in the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Film, and Literature. The award opens annually in early spring (2027 applications are now closed).
The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $2,500 for visual and performing artists. Applications reviewed monthly, so artists can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve budget errors. Rolling acceptance.

Short Édition seeks short stories and poems to delight, inspire, surprise, and, most importantly, move our readers. Starting July 1, 2019, the editorial team at Short Édition began publishing a monthly selection of original and unpublished short fiction in both the Short Story Dispensers and on our website. Button fiction — very short fiction published at the push of a button — is found in unexpected places, whether it’s when you’re savoring the last sips at the local coffee shop, waiting in line at the DMV, or strolling through the airport. We want to insert a bit of storytelling into the mundane moments, elevating the role of story in the everyday. We pay $125 stipend for each selected short story and $75 for each poem as an advance payment on the royalties that each author will receive on a yearly basis from the Short Story Dispenser subscriptions. Each selected piece will be published as a part of a Rendez-vous collection in our Short Story Dispensers around the world and on our website, short-edition.com/en. Response rate could be anywhere from a few days up to four months, depending on the number of submissions received. Submissions accepted on a rolling basis.

Olepangi Farm offers residency for artists for 6, 12, or 18 weeks. Artists stay in semi-permanent tents with adjoining bathrooms. Power and internet is only found in the communal spaces, the farm is off-grid. Artists are expected to complete one community activity or project, agreed upon at the beginning of their residency. They are also expected to have daily interaction with guests, leave a legacy behind, and reflect on their time in their residency for the farm’s social media. Artist expenses are $350 per week, plus travel, visa, and activities off the farm. Applications can be submitted by email to artistinresidence@olepangifarm.com. No listed deadline.
