GroundWork Thank You
A big warm thanks to everyone who made our first GroundWork Intensive for public art consultants a success.
Thanks to the experiences, voices, and facilitation of more than 25 artists, consultants, and practitioners in the field, and to the 32 participants who gave their time and energy to this new initiative. Thanks to our two local community and artist-driven spaces, New Rules and Indigenous Roots Cultural Arts Center, for hosting us and making us feel at home.
GroundWork Feedback
“It is so refreshing to be in this room – with so many people like me, who share values and vision”
—GroundWork Participant
“This is so wonderful! I’m super excited to learn more about what we are doing in our work and the work that is happening in our communities”
—GroundWork Participant
“I think it’s so important and exciting to have so many black, indigenous, POC folks together in this space—I know there are multiple tracks of evaluation going on and I think we should feel really empowered to make this experience what we need it to be and ask for what we want and need to really work for us, and not allow it just to END the day the program ends”
—GroundWork Participant
“I feel like we are really blessed to have this opportunity for Forecast to have created this for us. They are a public art institution nationally and can draw together communities to create new leadership – there are many levels to this.”
—GroundWork Participant
“I feel like Forecast was very intentional in putting together this collective, and we as participants need to be intentional about how we continue our work and community together, and stay in collaboration in the work we are doing in our communities.”
—GroundWork Participant
“When people would sit down and we would say, ‘This is not a formal interview, this a conversation so we can all get to know each other better’—the atmosphere changed immediately. (Applicants) were like, ‘Oh, you want to know what I need?! Holy cow.’ It feels like we have started creating relationships already and that it’s not business as usual. So, I’m really thinking about how we can make sure that everything we are doing going forward maintains that energy and atmosphere—and continues to not be business as usual— throughout this work.”
