Open Water Project
Open Water is a platform for contemporary art and culture situated aboard the Minneapolis Water Taxi (Duffy Boat) on the Mississippi River in Northeast Minneapolis. This project will support twelve artist-led boat tours containing a variety of visual, performing, and social practice art projects. The project goal is to support and facilitate the production and development of new and experimental public works in relationship to and floating on a natural body of water.
Baguss’s practice explores mediated natural environments through the drawing processes and interactive creative experiences. She is a 2015, 2017 and 2019 recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant, the 2017/18 Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artists, and a part of the Minnesota Artist Exhibition Program at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in 2020. Her work has been exhibited at the Rochester Art Center, Minnesota Center for the Book Arts, and Minnesota Museum of American Art.
The McKnight Foundation generously enables Forecast to provide Professional Development Grants for mid-career artists seeking to expand their work in the field of public art. Forecast mid- and early-career grants are designed to support independent projects, leadership development, professional development, risk-taking, multidisciplinary approaches, and collaborative problem-solving in the field of public art.
