Andy Frye

2023 Mid-Career Project Grantee | $10,000

Dance TV

Andy will develop and produce Dance TV, a live dance show composed of all original music and performed by diverse Minnesota artists. They will present this public art at no charge in an accessible arts community center in downtown Duluth around the time of the 2023 Duluth Pride Festival. All are welcome, but the target audience is northern Minnesota LGBTQ+ individuals/allies, people who can truly benefit from messages of diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and advocacy.

Andy is a lifelong, passionate, collaborative professional artist. His artistic vision is to create vibrant, joyful work that serves as a heart opener for viewers. He has worked in numerous mediums of art, including performing live theater as an actor/singer/dancer, directing and choreographing productions, playwriting, composing music, creating visual art, and videography. Andy is honored to have worked in a variety of artistic venues, including the Guthrie Theater, Carnegie Hall, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Yellow Tree Theatre, Zeitgeist Arts, and Duluth Playhouse.

The McKnight Foundation generously enables Forecast to provide Professional Development Grants for mid-career artists seeking to expand their work in the field of public art. Forecast mid- and early-career grants are designed to support independent projects, leadership development, professional development, risk-taking, multidisciplinary approaches, and collaborative problem-solving in the field of public art.
