Large Scale Mural at Whittier Neighborhood Skatepark
Community-based artist Witt Siasoco created Batad, a concrete and stainless steel tiled sculpture at the Phillips Foundation in North Minneapolis. The sculpture is Siasoco’s first large-scale permanent public artwork in the Twin Cities.
Witt Siasoco is a community-based visual artist living and working in Minneapolis, MN. For decades, Siasoco has been actively engaged at the intersection of the arts and civic life through a variety of roles—as artist, community organizer, and arts educator. Siasoco’s studio practice is rooted in creating art in public space that catalyzes civic dialogue and collective action. His creative process begins with individual conversations at bus stops, convenience stores, and neighborhood and usually leads to a hybrid of traditional painting and drawing, design, and site-specific installation. wittsiasoco.com
