We offer workshops, training, fellowships, and other in-person and online learning opportunities focused on helping public artists, creatives, and affiliated professionals enlist culture and creativity to address equitable and healthy community outcomes.
Piloted in 2014, the Making It Public workshop was originally designed with the intention of equipping Minnesota artists with essential place-making tools for utilization in their own communities. Over the years the workshop curriculum has developed nationally to serve artists who are interested in exploring or expanding a public art-making practice as well as arts administrators who are interested in strengthening local practices to support, create, and promote public art opportunities.
The two individual workshops have been attended by hundreds of artists and arts administrators across the U.S. at the request of municipalities, state arts agencies, non-profit organizations, and private developers. The 5-week Zoom educational experience consists of 90-minute presentations covering practical and tactical subject matter including local and national arts industry guest panelists.
Designed for BIPOC artists/individuals with little to no public art consulting experience, Intro to Public Art Consulting gives participants an understanding of how to start on the path to public art consulting.
The workshop consists of recorded and live sessions [all virtual] over the course of five weeks, and engages guest speakers in discussions. Workshop content is presented through an equity lens with a particular emphasis on giving BIPOC individuals knowledge and resources to explore public art consulting as a career path.

Designed for anyone interested in understanding the ever-evolving fields of public art and placemaking. Together we will look at a historical arc of public art through project examples of all scales, budgets, mediums, funding mechanisms, and locations. We will engage in a series of activities that helps us formulate a shared language around public art and how it directly relates to the unique circumstances of each participant’s community.

Grand Canyon Trust is working to build just transition of land in the Navajo Nation and would like to explore how public art and placemaking can be a part of this transition. Forecast developed and delivered a workshop curriculum to build capacity for artists in the region, so they can lead conversations on topics related to the just transition of the land. After the workshop, participants were invited to submit proposals for creative projects that inspire change and different ways of thinking in their communities and use the talents of local artists and community members to reimagine local economies, food systems, recreation opportunities, tourism, and more. Projects are forthcoming, and Forecast will provide technical support to artists along the way.
